  kiss goodbye to another year.
since tomorrow night i will be out gallivanting with my buddies,
my farewell to 09 will commence tonight.
and 09 deserves a special goodbye,
for being a milestone, and the janus of a hundred different things.

i've been using the word janus for the last few posts,
so i'll tell his story first.
janus is the roman numen (protective spirit) of the doorway
where he simultaneously looks back and looks forward
because he is two-headed.
janus is the origin for january.

so at this moment,
janus looms on my mind
as a beautiful idea.
to celebrate the past and embrace the future
at the same time.
what other way is better
to start out the new year?

2009 milestones:
jeremy and i hit 2 years... (we're approaching three right now)
i broke my prayer nonchalance.
i graduated from highschool.
yj got a pretty english name (LOL)
i went to university.
i turned 18.

and there are countless in-betweens.
each milestone only hovers over more
shrouded in time, shrouded in memory
but the steps were taken
and the footprints etched.
my journey is set,
the path lies imprinted.

my resolutions for 10
were stated before:
to be more beautiful, to be more grace
to be more love, to be more faith.
to be more wisdom, to be more will
to be more courage, to be more still.
to be more hope, to be more way
i want to be more than my yesterdays.

my trip home to hk has restored all of what i hold most dear.
the faces and the places
are home.
undoubtedly this is where i belong.
with renewed strength i will recross the waters
and throw myself into second semester with determination.
but summer calls sweet
and i can't wait.
but with the next waterstop in sight,
my marathon continues,
and the passing of a year
only proves my strength has not yet dissipated
and God is ever good.
i can see my imperfections
like potholes in the street.
but grace is filling them in,
though the colors leave marks

and life is ever beautiful.
