Isaiah 55:11 :
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what i desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
there is no adequate english equivalent for the term "聊天"
chat...talk... hmm. doesn't sound quite as nice and leisurely as it does in mandarin.
anyway, the point is that, i am attempting today to translate a song.
A very good song.
聊天 - 郭靜 (妳,朋友) Conversation - Claire Kuo
這是第幾天 這一座城市每天在下雪how many days has it been?this city snows every day 彷彿在嘲笑我 現在的心很冬天as if it were laughing at me,at the winter in my heart
這是第幾遍 你口中的快樂要我成全how many times has it been?your desire for my blessing 你沒點頭說抱歉 我卻回首說再見you never apologized, and yet i have to say goodbye
最後 我們聊著天finally, we sat and talked 我們約在當年 你表白的咖啡店meeting at the coffee shop where everything began 真的 可惜了昨天 當時拍的好多照片really, its a pity, we had so many photographs.
一天 累積成一年a day piles into a year 我們愛的熟練 現在都變成紀念the familiarity of love, is now just a memory 若有 機會在聊天 我的心會藏很遠if we have a chance to talk, i'll hide my heart far away
朋友 簡單的聊天 希望會有那一天as friends, a simple conversation, maybe there will be that day.
i am not quite satisfied with my translation,
but im trying to get the message across more than the direct translation. =P
it sounds nice in chinese because each character at the end rhymes. ya.
sounds lame. but really, the ring is nice that way.
